Leading the People Behind Museums

CEU Cultural Heritage Leadership Conversations

February 3, 2022, Thursday, from 3:40 PM to 5:20 PM CET

Join Zoom Meeting

Join us for a conversation with Dr. Matti Bunzl, the director of the Wien Museum, Vienna’s municipal museum.

About this conversation

Dr. Matti Bunzl will walk us behind the scenes of the Wien Museum. We will talk about running an organization with 19 locations and numerous employees working to make Vienna’s history come alive. How to formulate the organization’s mission and vision and convince your employees to follow you towards this shared goal? How to manage a heritage organization aimed at generating public good and heritage value? How to find a balance between your team’s needs and organizational efficiency? Why do so many cultural heritage organizations find it so difficult to adapt in the face of change? Today’s cultural heritage leaders face challenges and opportunities that have never been more dynamic or complex. Dr. Bunzl will help us understand how they can prepare for transformative leadership work.

Event details

This online conversation will consist of a 15-minute presentation by Matti Bunzl, followed by a 60-minute Q&A facilitated by Tiki Baghashvili and Flavia Matei, CEU MA students. After that, the participants are invited to join a 20-minutes open discussion.
